After the fun of the Elitistreview 20th anniversary lunch, it is time to discuss the future of my increasingly superannuated organ.
Dear reader, you will have noticed that this string of articles are the first things to appear on Elitistreview this year – I simply have not been writing. There are a myriad of reasons for this, but they all add up to making it extremely difficult for me to write anything.
This will change in the future; I will get the electronic device in my back optimally programmed to minimise the pain writing causes me, I will get therapy to deal with several psychological problems I am experiencing, and so on. I will write in the future.
However, I feel 20 years of writing a blog, sometimes ripping words from the very core of my being and throwing them at Word before organising them to coherency, is an awfully long time. In all honesty, the muse is rarely with me, and I do not feel I have terribly much more to say.
If I have a really good wine, or make some other discoveries that I feel people need to know, I shall try to report on them. I cannot, however, promise to do with startling regularity. This is not least because my health does not allow me to dine out or drink huge quantities of wine as I once did.
Fear not! You may be surprised to learn that Team Elitistreview has a great number of wonderful friends who love this site and want to see it continue.
Therefore, I have asked a highly select few people if they would be kind enough, on occasion, to submit articles for publication. They are all aesthetically enlightened and know what is important in wine and life – their words can be trusted.
These actions by my wonderful friends are greatly appreciated, and I do not want to put any pressure to write on them. So, while I cannot guarantee a regular and fixed timetable of content. At least there will be content!
Two friends have already provided articles (the first will be published on at 09:00 (BST) on Friday 15th and the following a week later on Friday 22nd of August), and I will put their bios on the Elitistreview about page at the same time. When you read them, you will see:
When it comes to wine, there is an objective reality out there and we know what it is!
May there be many more years of fun on Elitistreview!
Thank you Keith, Jonathan, all who have donated money, wine and food, our friends, everyone who helped with my back operation, and our readers. Without all of you, Elitistreview would have died a long time ago.
Dani, thank you.
– Davy.
Thanks Davy for all your many wonderful blogs over the 20 years. Quite an achievement, bearing in mind the severe physical and mental issues you have had to deal with . I do hope that after the “ rebooting” of your back device, you will be free of pain and able to enjoy life more .
Sorry, Keith, I missed your comment. I’ve got a new program in the back computer that is pretty good. It’ll never be a cure, but it is immeasurably better than before I had the device in.
I look forward to my psychiatrist doing what he promised he would do in May and provide me with a list of therapists capable of dealing with my rather extreme mental health problems. Then there will be further forward progress!
Davy,
You just have to keep the output coming.
Not least because you and it brings out the best in our mutual friend @Keith Prothero!
Best of luck for your ongoing back adjustments and upcoming re boot.
I look forward to the guest articles and more original and enthusiastic comment about wine and all associated with it.
……..Particularly champagne.
Ray old chap,
Always happy to entertain Keith, especially by drinking Champagne in front of him and hearing him gripe!
Thank you for visiting and commenting – may there be many more magnums of Roederer Rosé 12 for us both!
