A fun day out

I went to the London Wine Trade Fair today, I dressed in my most ‘wine trade’ uniform:

David Strange in his red cord suit

Naturally, dressed like that I got to try a lot of good stuff.

I was very impressed with the Henriques and Henriques Madeiras. There were some great German 2007s, including brilliant efforts from Max Ferd Richter and Leitz. Bollinger is always nice (1999 is so much better than 1997, almost a proper vintage, one might say). Taylor’s and Fonseca make great Port. It was a fun day out.

Oh my word! Usually one or two outrageous colours are considered enough, you have enjoyed the whole spectrum. I would have given you booze simply to get you to move on to the next contender. As for the wine, riesling in June: absolutely. Port: no, no. H&H is (are) god (s).

I went to the German stand twice and reallly high-graded, some excellent stuff. Those 07s were delicious.

I was impressed by the H&H kit, the Sercial was freaking A for only a ten-year-old offering
